A historic village located on the Likas River, on Likas Bay. Likas Bay is named (in Bajau) after the very big mangroves that grew here. Only a fragment remain. Most of the areas wetlands have been converted into land for the Likas Sports area which, when added to the historic settlement, makes Likas one of the largest sub-section of the modern city of Kota Kinabalu.
