Headframe (Sutter Creek, California)

USA / California / Sutter Creek / Sutter Creek, California
 ruins, headframe

Old headframe from the Central Eureka Mine, now a part of the Sutter Gold operation.

This head frame has a new road leading up the hill to it, but is fenced off with warning sign not to trespass due to toxic chemicals (old mining processes used large amounts of mercury and cyanide). But it is fun to see an old steel headframe up close.

  • We used to be able to drive up to this site, but now there is a locked gate at the end of the road. Probably because there is a lot of toxic stuff in the ground around here.
