The church is located in the eastern part of the historical center of Todi (PG) .
Via Ulpiana , today Via Matteotti , terminates behind the third circle of walls that opens onto the Porta Romana , with a flat section and two squares facing each other : on the left we have the little square with the Church of St. Philip Benizi , right , Hole Ulpius Trajan , the one with the Church of St. Nicholas . The erection of the latter dates from the end of the fourteenth century, directly grafted on the left side of the oldest Church of St. Nicholas de Criptis , founded on the site of an ancient Roman amphitheater . The parish church of St. Nicholas has a large single hall , plastered and painted , not perfectly rectangular , covered with a gable supported by two diaphragm arches pointed arch , decorated with two-tone motif , with exposed stone piers , along the walls of the nave , which was introduced by a compass , half-timbered , in the bay next to the presbytery , there are two altars in travertine , as well as the largest , while on the left side overlooked by two frescoed niches , the chancel , raised two steps, is announced by a third party pointed arch , with the same features as the other , but tighter and rotated with respect to the axis of the building, and turned with a cruise to all sixth , on the bottom plate , top opens behind the balustrade of the choir . The exterior walls are presented to the contrary in square blocks , but of various sizes , limestone facing to . The simple facade with horizontal crown that hides the pitches of the roof , is distinguished by the pointed arch doorway , with splay decorated with spiral columns , and elaborate rose window above radially, from the Church of St. Nicholas in Criptis . The bell tower is located at the rear of the building.
