This alignment (dating to 1953 and replacing two sharper curves at this site dating to 1930, which in turn replaced two even-sharper corners from 1922, when this portion of roadway was first built) was removed from service in 2010 due to the increasing risk of erosion from Lake Erie. At least the area between old and new alignments is a (former Ministry of Transportation, now Chatham-Kent Municipal Works) roadside park, with a small part of the original alignment serving as a driveway to a couple residences. The new alignment basically restores the 1930 alignment to the highway.
