This is the spot where one of the four atomic bombs from the 1966 Palomares accident crashed to the ground, spreading its radioactive plutonium on the nearby land. A second bomb crashed a couple of kilometers away, close to Palomares proper. An interesting read: www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-18689132
