1075 Sandmines Crossing,

Formerly "The Pit", this was a humdinger of a golf course built on the site of a former sand quarry, a Dan Maples design that broke a lot of rules. Never seemed to take hold in a pretty stodgy golf town, it closed in 2010 and was immediately purchased by the Pinehurst Resort people. It took a while, but Pinehurst announces that Pinehurst No. 10 will open on this site in 2024, to a design by Tom Doak and Angela Moser.
