Community Warehouse is a non-profit that sells new and used building materials and other items donated by contractors, builders, manufacturers and retailers. Many of the materials come from new or renovated homes. The monies generated by the sale of materials is used to help non-profit groups in the community.

The property was formerly home to the Blackhawk Tannery which produced leather for clothing, belts and shoes. The plant closed in 2001 citing competition from Mexico and China where environmental standards and wages are lower, for their decline.
