Former site of the Tucker rest area. When operating, the rest area was one of the most popular and busiest non-interstate rest areas in the state. But the highway's blind curve made accessing the rest area hazardous.
In June 2009 the rest area was closed in preparation for relocation of the highway. In October 2009, the rest area was buried under about 30 feet of highway construction dirt (new highway alignment). It was replaced by the Tie Fork Rest Area, 1.6 miles west of here.

It is still the North end of the looong maountain bike route.
