Secano (Secano area)
The ‘Secano’ is a large area in the eastern side of the Alhambra, between the 'Torre de la Cuativa' and 'Torre de la Infanta'. The name ('secano' means unirrigated land) is due to the destruction of the irrigation systems during the 16th century. The remainders of this palace were found in 1920 by Leopoldo Torres Balbás, Alhambra architect at that time. He created a Romantic garden in the site. The palace was built following the classic Nasrid structure: a series of spaces structured surround a central rectangular space with an ‘alberca’.
