This opened in 1987 as a Simon David, an upscale grocer owned by the owners of Tom Thumb (which had stores in Austin), but closed in 1996 under the reign of then-parent company Randalls (which, coincidentally, had eliminated the Tom Thumb name in Austin in favor of its own name a few years earlier). It reopened as a (very small) Saks Fifth Avenue in 1997, which closed in 2012. In summer 2014, it reopened as a Trader Joe's, bringing the store back to grocery use again.
