Whole land property was the asset of Kumudini Welfare Trust of Bengal (Bangladesh) Ltd.
Kumudini Welfare Trust was founded by Rai Bahadur Ranada Prasad Shaha in June 1947. Late R P Shaha was born in a very poor family, but became very wealthy through his business quality. Before founding Kumudini Trust, he set up a free dispensary, a 750 bedded free hospital, in between 1938 to 1944. He also established Bharateswari Homes, Kumudini Girls College and Debendra College. He nourished a great Philanthropic attitude in him and his family members. In the year 1944, he donated Rs 2,5 lakhs to the then Red Cross Society. Later, when he founded the trustee board, all his property was attached with it. At present the Kumudini Trust runs a Womem Medical College, a Nursing School, a Nursing College. The trust is setting an International Cancer Institute and hospital too. Funds required for running all these welfare activities are obtained from the income generating units like Jute Mill, Press, Ware house, garments Industry, pharmaceuticals, river transportation, handicrafts etc.
