This monument is scheduled under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979
The Early Neolithic Sweet and Post Tracks are the oldest known wooden trackways in Britain, possibly in Western Europe, and have provided a wealth of evidence about woodland and woodworking activities.
The monument contains the well preserved organic remains of sections of two Early Neolithic timber trackways, the Sweet Track, and its predecessor, the Post Track.
