Iril Valley has more than around 15-20 gorkha villages. The first settlers of gorkha was Shri Hav. Chandra Prasad Bhattarai Chettry in the year 1900. He later took 12 other families and settled here. In its peak in 1980s there were around 2000 gorkha households. But after the kuki-naga conflicts, many gorkhali were tortured by the kukis and were scattered since then to safer places of the state.
