A new Culver’s restaurant replaced the departed Bob Evans restaurant on Auburn’s west side.

An application to build a Culver’s restaurant at 121 Touring Drive will go before the Auburn Plan Commission Tuesday at 6 p.m. in City Hall.

The city’s planning staff has recommended approval of the application, filed by Glenn Padmos of Padmos Holdings LLC in Coldwater, Michigan.

Padmos Holdings purchased the one-acre property July 24, a few days before the Bob Evans restaurant closed, according to DeKalb County property records. It lies along the northbound exit ramp of Interstate 69 onto S.R. 8 in west Auburn.

Padmos’ plan calls for demolishing the Bob Evans building and replacing it with a 4,000-square-foot new building. It would face to the west, with a drive-through window on the east side.

Traffic would access the restaurant from Touring Drive, on an access road that lies between the Aldi’s grocery store and Arby’s restaurant.
