Once there existed about a dozen of those giant Jupiter columns: Jupiter fights the earth-giant who is shown as a barbarian. No wonder that the Alamanni threw the column of NOVANIVS AVGVSTVS in the same well twice. The four female heads at the column’s capital represent the four seasons, the stone of four gods shows Juno, Minerva, Heracles and Mercury. The original column is exposed at the Lobdengau Museum.
