gate, fortress
Bukammun, or North Secret Gate, is one of three "Secret Gates" in Hwaseung Fortress. The gate lies close to the North-East Pavilion.
Bukammun was constructed to be hidden and was obscured by trees. Used primarily to allow the passage of personal, weapons and supplies in and out of the fortress unnoticed by enemies. Designed large enough to let only a single horse and rider through at any given time.
