Austria / Niederosterreich / Melk / Kremser Straße, 19
 hotel, historic landmark

The history of 4-Star Castle Hotel Burkhardt goes back to the 12th century. It is one of the oldest buildings of the wine-growing town of Spitz in the Wachau Danube Valley. As a wine collection facility for Niederalteich abbey, the estate did not only serve residential and commercial purposes, it also had a defensive role. With the growing importance of Spitz as an administrative center on the Danube during the 16th century, the house was remodeled into a Baroque-style manor and adorned with an ornamental facade.
Today it houses a castle hotel with 11 individually designed guest rooms amidst a fruit orchard, with a sunbathing area framed by rose bushes.
