The freemason castle of Rosenau, known far beyond the borders of Austria, is home not only to a famous museum but also to one of Lower Austria's most exciting castle hotels. In 1593, Rosenau was first expanded into a renaissance castle, undergoing further remodelling and growth 150 years later, based on plans drawn up by the famous baroque architect, Munggenast. Rosenau owes its current appearance to restorations conducted in the 80's.
