One of a number of forts built in the 1850s to protect Portsmouth and its vital harbour. Largely unaltered, the parade ground, gun ramps and moated keep can all be viewed. Portchester Castle - which acted as a prison during the Napoleonic Wars - is nearby.

The Fort opens occasionally for pre booked tours and Heritage Open Days 7 - 10 Sep and is available for private hire, please call 02392 378291
