Porcupine Saddle

Mexico / Sonora / Sahuaripa /

Due to the steep profile of Cerro Verde, many exploratory drill holes were collared in this area and covered a 360 degrees radius. This is the site of the collar of the famous drill hole, SJ-06-06, (oriented on an azimuth of 90° [due East] at an angle of -45° [from horizontal]) that drilled out of the East side of Cerro Verde into open air at a depth of 150.57 meters. To avoid "punching out" again, the hole was re-drilled using a steeper angle (-55°) and was completed to a total depth of 230.12 meters and labeled SJ-06-07.
