 memorial, tomb(s), cemetery

Burial Place of James Garfield, the 20th President of the United States. He was shot and wounded on July 2, 1881 in a train station in Washington, DC. The poor medical care available at the time led to his death on September 19th, making him (after Abraham Lincoln) the second U.S. President to be assassinated. Garfield's backbone and a couple of his ribs, however, are kept at the National Museum of Health and Medicine in Washington, DC, on the grounds of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
