ruins, archaeological site, ancient ruins
The ancient settlement at Sabucina or Sabbucina was founded by the Sicani in the 8th century BC. It appears to have been settled by Greeks in the 6th century BC, then destroyed by the Sicels in the 5th century BC, then rebuilt later in that century, before being abandoned in the 4th century BC. The site is partially excavated and now forms part of an archaeological park.
