Built in 1893 by local architects Wing & Mahurin, the sandstone Richardsonian structure served as the seat of city government until 1971, when it was vacated for the Edwin J. Rousseau Centre, formerly known as the City-County Building.

Since 1980, the Allen County-Fort Wayne Historical Society has been housed in the Old City Hall building. Today, the Old City Hall is known as The History Center, home to the historical society’s offices as well as its extensive collection of over 22,000 artifacts and archival records.
