estate (manor / mansion land), interesting place, tourist attraction
The estate was first mentioned in 1452. It belonged to the von Maydell family in the Middle Ages and was constructed as a vassal's stronghold (many parts of which have been maintained in the present main building). The estate later belonged to the von Rehbinders, von Fersens and then again to the von Maydells. The main building got its Baroque form probably in the 18th century but it has been reconstructed later as well. The building now houses an orphanage. By the historical distribution the manor was in Juuru Parish in Harjumaa County. By the present administrative distribution it belongs to the Juuru Municipality in Raplamaa County.
