Limbricht Castle

Netherlands / Limburg / Sittard-Geleen / Allee, 1
 castle, motte-and-bailey castle

The first wooden castle, probably named Lemborch, was built before 1150 as a motte-and-bailey overlooking outbuildings and the ancestor of Saint-Salvius Chapel. The castle in its present form was built in 1622 and the farm in 1630. Limbricht Castle was used as a field hospital under the reign of Napoleon.

The castle itself is now occupied by offices. The outbuildings are used for parties and conferences and house a restaurant.
