400 acres of rare, Willamette Valley wetland prairie. Home to Western Pond Turtles, Western Meadowlarks, Fenders Blue Butterflies, and rare, endemic plant species, this spectacular prairie ecosystem is jointly owned and managed by the BLM and the City of Eugene. Experience the year round beauty of this natural area while walking, birding, or biking on the Fern Ridge Bike Path. Parking is available at Checkermallow Access on Royal Avenue or the Meadowlark Prairie Overlook on Greenhill Road, or one can walk or bike from downtown on the Fern Ridge Bike Path. The ploygon encompasses adjacent public properties known as "Meadowlark Prairie," "Oak Hill," and "Dragonfly Bend."
