Morton Lochs and Tentsmuir Point are managed as Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve by Scottish Natural Heritage. These are the remaining parts of a once enormous sand dune system that was afforested (Tentsmuir Forest) during the post war drive for timber production.
The National Nature Reserve is open every day. Access to Morton Lochs is by a track off the Tayport to St Michael's road to a (free) car park. Hides available. This track is narrow - please use passing places. Access to the Tentsmuir section is from the nearby Kinshaldy car park (Forestry Commission car parking charges apply) or along the coastal strip from Tayport.
