Velise Church of St. John the Baptist is an Orthodox church located in the village of Velise, Märjamaa rural municipality, Rapla county. The church is registered as a listed building. Velise Church of St. John the Baptist (Russian: Велисская Иоанно-Предтеченская церковь) was built in 1888–1889. The architect of the red brick historicist-style building was Erwin Bernhardt. A priest's house, a barn-carriage house, a sauna and a woodshed were also built next to the church. Originally, the church was planned to be built on the land of the Kalase farm, and some of the building stones were also transported there. Baron Maydell, the owner of the Velise manor, found out about the plan, and since Kalase was a rented farm, the baron forbade the construction of a church there. A new building site was obtained on the land of the Kõhi farm. Since this farm had been bought out, the baron's word was no longer valid there.
