    ...a factory? I believe it is due to some strange black old volcanic stones...

    Actually it was from an asbestos mine, Canari, that is just north of Nonza. Asbestos mining in the 50s and 60s has killed many Corsicans as asbestos can live in your lungs for many years before developing into a deadly cancer.
