The building, which built during 17th century, is originally a ziekenhuis (hospital). In 1828, De Javasche Bank began using the building. Between 1910 and 1935 the building is renovated by architect Ed. Cuypers and MJ Hulswit, under direction of De Javasche Bank. Following Indonesian independence, the building was used by Bank Indonesia before 1960s and now Museum Bank Indonesia
