The 99,000 square foot EmeryStation Greenway Building is a flexible state-of-the-art research-and-development focused building located along the new Emeryville Greenway, a unique bike-pedestrian corridor that runs through most of the city of Emeryville from Oakland to Berkeley. With outdoor decks and a stepped back façade along the Greenway, which includes a water feature, a beautiful bronze sculpture called "All Together Now" by Frederick Gelb, and numerous pedestrian-oriented rest places, the building allows occupants to take advantage of one of the truly unique urban landscape amenities in the entire East Bay area.
Besides the special opportunities for bike and pedestrian access from the Greenway, the project also provides a convenient pedestrian link from Hollis Street through EmeryStation East to EmeryStation 1 and the Amtrak Transit Center beyond, in addition to convenient access to Interstate 80 from adjacent Powell St.
The base building was designed by DGA Architects, one of California’s leading firms specializing in the design of office and laboratory facilities for the advancement of the life and physical sciences. DGA was the designer of the JBEI interiors in EmeryStation East. With the project situated as a transition between commercial and more residential scale neighborhoods, the architecture features interplay between glass curtain wall and rich solid materials such as stone and custom designed pre-cast concrete.
Wareham has delivered a “very warm” shell with common areas, main lobby, elevators, stairways, bathrooms, landscaping and security already in place. This gives tenants maximum utility and the best economies in creating their workplaces, as well as allowing maximum speed in completing their tenant improvements.
The EmeryStation Greenway Building is officially recognized as LEED-CS pre-certified at the Gold level.
"Cascada," a wonderful laser sculpture by Chris Lattanzio, welcomes visitors to the stunning lobby. The Bureau, a great new restaurant for the EmeryStation campus, opens in the fall of 2012.
