This is the site of Abbey and West Dereham Station on the former branch line from Denver to Stoke Ferry.

Opened as "Abbey" by the Downham and Stoke Ferry Railway on 1 August 1882, the station was renamed "Abbey for West Dereham" on 1 January 1886 with the "for" being replaced by "and" on 1 July 1923. The station closed to passengers on 22 September 1930 however the line remained open for goods to Wissington until the mid 60s. The station was named for the nearby village of West Dereham and the site of the ruins of St Mary's Abbey to the north east.

www.francisfrith.com/west-dereham/photos/abbey-station-... shows a picture of the by-then disused station in 1953.

A little to the east of this station, the line splits and a goods-only branch heads south into what is now the Wissington Sugar Beet works, heading over a bridge over the Great Ouse Cut Off Channel. This channel was opened in 1964 shortly before the complete closure of the line.

The station building is still extant.
