During low demand extra energy is used to pump water from L:och Ness to Loch Mhor. Fossil fuel plants are slow to start and slow to stop and more efficient when left to run. Usually at night they send excess power here, the turbine operate in reverse and water is pumped up to Loch Mhor. On demand (day?) the two turbines can come up to speed in about 2 minutes providing some 300 megawatts.
