Also known as Isle of Walney, it is England's eighth largest island, containing the settlements of North Scale, Vickerstown, Walney and Biggar, all part of the Borough of Barrow-in-Furness. The Northern and Southern ends of the island are both nature reserves. North Walney National Nature Reserve is a habitat of the Natterjack Toad, and of the Walney Geranium (endemic to the island).
The fictional Isle of Sodor stands in place of Walney and includes the islands existing settlements but spans to the Isle of Man.
