It's a mixed habitat of mostly Assamese population with occational fringe of Migrated muslim & hindu bengali people at the south side of rahmaputra at the Eastern most border of District Goalpara, bordering Kamrup at the East, River Brahmaputra at North, Rongjuli & subsequently Meghalaya at South & Matia area at the West side.

The place has renowned school, a bank numerous mandir (Temple) as well as a newly built Mosque at the riverside market.

The market is a happening and a feeding place for the char areas (river islands). It is well connected to places of Barpeta districts via boat as well as via public transports like bus and Tata Magic with Barpeta Road, Goalpara town and Guwahati.

The place has a growing market scenario for Agricultural input like seed, fertilizers, micronutrients, pesticide & herbicide as the char people (river island) are mostly dependent on agriculture.

Assamese population is well settled in Guwahati with a tail left at Simlitola.

Though health facility is poor but a well attempted plan was damaged while S/o Dr. Utpal Medhi was subdued.

The place is 20 km from NH 37 (Rongjuli).
