The Settlement of mines that belongs to the local community of Omvriaki.
On the road from Lamia to Domokos , and at the 28th km away in the plains formerly a lake Xyniada, is a small settlement of mines . Indeed, as evidenced in his own name , in the area was chromite which has stopped its activity for years. In this mine employed many residents of surrounding communities : St. George Xyniadas , Omvriaki etc. Today at the mines , which sometimes were full of life, have left the remains of plants , few of the old buildings and a small pond created by the precipitation of the old galleries .
In settlement of mines , currently reside a few families who are trying to preserve and show off as much as possible this small area . Worth a stop from your course and enjoy your coffee or try local meats that will offer you the village taverns .
We should not omit to visit and of course the magnificent church of St. Barbara.
The Mines (Metallion) is a settlement of Local Community Omvriaki and
has 254 inhabitants.
