Mahgawan-Rehriyamau is a gram-panchayat located in the Sandila Block. It used to be a prominent village in Kalyan Mal pargana. It has a population between 1000-1500 .
The villages roots back its history around 17th century as a colony of 'Thathera' tribesman , which were subsequently attacked and removed from the village by Sikarwar Thakurs which gave the village its present name Mah-gaon or Mah-gawan.
The village has weekly market days on Monday and Thursday , and this traditional weekly market or bazaar as it is known among folks around is running unabated since centuries.
Till the 19th century the villagers of Mahgawan had a vouchable reputation for their honesty, and were very much sought after for land-arbitration and other legal matters in the regions. Though the reputation has receded now since few years.
