OUR HISTORY:
1951 - Founding of Santo Americo by Hungarian Benedictine monks of the St. Gerald Monastery in São Paulo, the organization that still maintains the school
1951 to 1957 - Term of Office of the first principal, Don Emilio Jordan, OSB, during which time the school was publicly acknowledged for its high educational standards, growing from 130 students during its first year of activities to over 400 students in the mid-1950’s
1959 to 1962 - At the old building on Immaculate Conception Street, four classes were graduated from the high school course
1963 - The School moved from the borough of Santa Cecília to Morumbi, where it is still located today
1980 - The school became co-educational
2002 - The Pre-School was opened
Located in a spacious area measuring 64,000 m² with woodlands and plenty of greenery, Santo Américo School has as its point of difference a complete and complex infrastructure, including the following:
INFRASTRUCTURE
* Sports facilities of various types: 8 multipurpose sports courts, 2 soccer fields, 4 swimming pools - three of which are heated, 2 gymnasiums , a gymnastics room, an athletics track, a judo room (with tatami) and a ballet classroom
* An up-to-date Library equipped with over 35,000 volumes and 420 CD-ROMs
* 6 computer laboratories ,2 multi-media laboratories, 1 robotics laboratory
* 4 science laboratories (chemistry, physics, biology and general science)
* A church and oratory
* An Auditorium for 400 people and 2 amphitheaters
* A music school located in its own building (having 19 music rooms with 11 pianos and 4 keyboards, 3 acoustically-equipped rooms for drum and band lessons and a dance classroom)
* A Lunchroom that can accommodate 400 people; a separate Lunchroom for the Pre-School; a snack bar
* Security monitoring using closed-circuit cameras
* An Infirmary with individualized health care
* Recreational areas (woodlands, playgrounds etc.)
