The reservoir is on the East Branch of the Cuyahoga River in Geauga County, Ohio. It encompasses 926 acres with 420 acres of water and a 7.5-mile shoreline. There is a boat ramp on the west side, off of State Route 608. The reservoir is in the City of Akron watershed, so only electric motors are allowed. The park has a two-mile dirt road/path that meanders through woods, meadows, and along the shore of the reservoir. Gentle hills (nothing too steep). Parking is located at both ends of this path. Bikes and horses are also permitted. The waters from the East Branch of the Cuyahoga River join with the waters from the West Branch, eventually emptying into Lake Erie at Cleveland, Ohio. The land is owned by the City of Akron and leased to the Geauga Park District, which maintains it as Headwaters Park.
