USA / Illinois / Plano / River Rd, 14520
museum, residence, International Style (architecture) (Bauhaus), interesting place, Modern (architecture)

Designed c. 1951 by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for Dr. Edith Farnsworth, one of Chicago's most acclaimed physicians. She eschewed Mies' furniture originally for works by other modernists of the period. It was subsequently owned by Lord Peter Palumbo who had cabinetry installed by Dirk Lohan.

Now owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, this is one of the most architecturally important private residences in the United States. Due to the location in a flood plain, the property floods frequently.
