Trinity column, aka the Mary Column, or The plague Column was erected in 1715 & stands in the middle of this small square in front of St. Nicholas Church. It was erected to thank the Virgin Mary for ending the terrible plague that raged in Europe in 1713/14. This 20m column has a radiant triangle at the top, plus statues of several Czech patron saints encircling the column including St. Wenceslas & St. John of Nepomuk. There are three fountains at the foot of the column that symbolize the sources of life, charity and salvation.
