The Zamboanga City Medical Center started as a General Hospital on September 01, 1918.
In 1962, the hospital was designated as the training hospital for Region 7. Thereafter it was renamed as Zamboanga Regional Training Hospital for Region IX.
On March 24, 1992, through the Republic Act No. 7270, the hospital was converted to Zamboanga City Medical Center, upgrading it from 200 to 250 bed capacity hospital.
