‘Ain al-Shqeifa/’Ain al-Zarqa wetland, which has been added to Ramsar Convention sites in 2000, is a fine example of a unique ecosystem, harboring both feeding and roosting areas for a range of wintering waterfowl, amphibians (frogs) and an outstanding variety of aquatic and terrestrial plant species.The wetland is now confirmed by the team of the Designation and Classification of Nature Reserves of Libya as one of the most valuable natural habitats in the Jabal al-Akhdar region.
