Second World War 1939-1945, commemorative place/plaque, tank on display
Historic M4 Duplex Drive Sherman. Recovered from the Ocean where it had foundered after 27 years, restored and put on display.
The DD shermans had a metal "skirt" with a canvas curtain that helped in float. Horrible in any surf, all the US DDs sank far from shore. The Canadians and English brought them in a lot closer.
The M4 Sherman, officially Medium Tank, M4, was the most widely used medium tank by the United States and Western Allies in World War II.
