The quarantine station was last used as such in 2006 when 8 Thai elephants were held here en route to mainland Australian zoos. Lately the station has been considered for use as temporary accommodation for Sri Lankan boatpeople. The station has a recreation center, living quarters, a commercial kitchen and large animal sheds.
