Mission: SPACE (Bay Lake, Florida)

USA / Florida / Lake Buena Vista / Bay Lake, Florida
 simulator ride  Add category

Volunteer for astronaut flight training at the International Space Training Center and train to be part of the first mission to mars. Riders enter flight training simulator capsules attached to multi-arm centrifuges that spin to create strong g-forces associated with space travel. Choose between Orange Team: More Intense Training or Green Team: Less Intense Training. Both choices offer the same mission, but Orange Team riders will experience sustained, strong g-forces, while Green Team's centrifuges do not spin and thus do not produce any g-forces.

  • This is the former location of Horizons
  • Pretty exhilarating ride - not for the faint hearted. Several people were taken to hospital in the first few months of the ride opening apparently, so they now have 2 queues at the entrance...LESS INTENSE without the g-force, and FULL INTENSITY where you experience 2-3 G's for short bursts. Try the easy one first if in doubt. You're in an enclosed space for a few minutes, so take some deep breaths and try to relax and enjoy.
  • Its not that bad of a ride. Although you can get dizzy at times
  • Horizons was so much better than this nauseating attraction.
  • I agree with MG Lover.
  • This has got to be my absolute FAVorite ride at WDW! This is more than a ride -- it's a true simulation, from the intense G force of launch, to the weightlessness in orbit, it's quite a trip. If you do tend to get motion sick, the "Less Intense" ride may be for you. But if you want to try the "More Intense" ride, one key to keep from getting disoriented and nauseated is to make sure that you don't move your head when you are subjected to the high-G maneuvers, such as in liftoff and the boost phase to Mars. Turning your head will make your inner ear immediately recognize that you are spinning in a centrifuge, and for those who are motion sensitive, this will result in the urge to hurl!
  • I was really surprised how ill this ride got me. I normally do very well.
  • This ride is a good ride but not worth it if you have to wait 90 minutes.
  • Yeah, that's what FastPass is for. And a tip for those of you who get nauseated on this ride: don't move your head. That's what the V-shaped headrest is for. Plant your head firmly in that, and don't move it 'til the ride stops! As soon as you move your head, your inner ear gets disoriented with what your eyes are seeing, and your brain gets really confused!
  • This ride is AWESOME. They still should have kept Horizons and built Mission Space in another building. That would have worked out better.
  • i never rode on Horizons but i did see the ride building in 1999 on my first trip. it looked like a huge white pyramid. shame i never rode though but the ride had such beautiful futuristic music...
  • Another example of a ride that is taken over by a more up to date, exilerating ride. I'm pretty sure Horizons was popular enough to stay. But no, Disney has to build another ride in its place. May as well not be known as Future World. I mean, Mission Space is great, but they shouldn't have removed Horizons. It was an Epcot classic! PLEASE rebuild Horizons!
  • I have been on it 2 times and that is enough. I miss Horizons.
  • My youngest daughter and I loved it. My wife and older daughter said it made them sick.
  • i went there when they first tested it with guests and its way more intense than it is now
  • It's OK without the spinning.
  • I love this ride, it is a thrilling experience. Warning: Not for the easily nauseated.
