115 Nichols Court in Hempstead, known as the Hempstead Public Library, was designed c. 1945 by James Gamble Rogers. Concerned by its $500,000 projected cost, the village shelved the project until 1949. Francis Rogers, James Gamble Rogers' son and a partner in Rogers & Butler, became the primary architect on the project after his father's death.
