Taipalsaari wooden church was built in 1754. The designer is possibly Eskil Collanus from Sortavala, which had previously been repaired Lappeenranta, the unfinished church. The bell tower was built in 1750. Originally building was too small for the church was extended in the 1840s. Alteration and repair work is done on many occasions over the years. Taipalsaari church got its present appearance with tall windows in the early 1900s, when Karl Hård af Segerstad designed the altar of the existing structure.
