Shirala Taluka; तालुका शिराळा
District Sangli. जिल्हा सांगली
Also known as 32 Shirala (Battis Shirala / ३२ शिराळा )
Famous for its nagpanchami festival (festival of worshiping snakes)
Falls into Sahyadri ranges and hence it is a hilly in its major part.
It is sandwiched between Satara district on north and Kolhapur district on south, and is separated from Kolhapur district by warna river which is also the border between Sangli and Kolhapur districts. Warna river has actually flourished the terrain, hence its full of sugar cane fields and greenery on its banks.
At the extreme west of this taluk, lies Chandoli dam, national park and sanctuary. An extremely pleasant place to visit. Also regarded as world heritage site by Unesco due to its flura and fauna.
