In 2012, this portion of Saskatchewan Crescent between 16th and 17th Streets suffered a slumping failure. Cracks in the road opened up, which lead to the discovery of a burst storm sewer pipe underground. It has yet to be determined if the burst pipe cause the slope failure, or vice versa.

This part of Saskatchewan Crescent has been closed as a result. It is estimated it will cost $1 million to repair the damage and reopen the road.
